Is my program too small for PAL?

No program is too small for PAL.  If your program collects tuition and runs the risk of losing money due to past due account balances, then PAL is a friend of yours.

What types of programs are eligible for PAL membership?
Any program (preschool, before/after school programs, private schools, in home day care, etc) whose financial success is dependant on tuition dollars.

Are there any hidden fees associated with membership?
There will be no fees added to your membership package outside your annual contract with PAL.

Do you guarantee my business will be able to recoup lost monies?
While we do not guarantee the return of owed monies, we strongly feel that with so many PAL memberships, it will only be a matter of time before delinquent clients have no other options than to repay past due accounts.

How soon should I list a delinquent account into the system?
Often times people get behind on their payments and start seeking child care elsewhere days, even weeks before you are forced to remove them from your program. PAL recommends you enter a family into the database the day their account becomes past due even if they are still actively enrolled into your program.

I have never had anyone leave with an un-paid account; why do I need PAL?
PAL not only helps recoup lost monies, but we also aim to prevent your program from becoming victim to families that have the tendency to join a program and leave with a delinquent account.

Social Services told a family they would pay for part or all of our services and then did not. Should/Can I put that family on the database as being responsible for owed monies?
While this type of event is unfortunate, even in cases such as these the family is responsible for paying your program these monies and this should be listed in the database. The family is responsible for recouping lost monies from social services.

When are names removed from the PAL database?
Once an account has been paid in full, settled, or a payment plan has been worked out, that persons name should be immediately removed from the site. Remember, you only have twenty four hours to remove their name from the database.

Who is able to remove a name from the PAL database?
Only the username that entered it or PAL can remove a name from the database. You can call or e-mail PAL within twenty four hours with the name that needs to be removed and we will remove it for you.

Do I have to remove a family from the database if they are paying back delinquent monies on a payment plan?
Yes, however you are well within your right to put their name back on the database if they do not repay monies as agreed. Also, Please call the help desk at PAL and inform us. PAL will list them permanently in the database as a family that set up a payment plan and did not pay as agreed.

What do I do if I set up a payment plan with a family and they paid a little at first and then quit paying?
PAL is not a collections agency, so we will not actively set out to recover lost monies from delinquent families. However, if a family has left your program owing money and then to get into another program elsewhere sets up a payment plan with you and does not honor that agreement, inform us at PAL. PAL will permanently mark that person in the database as someone that has made a payment agreement and not kept it. This is the only offense that will get you listed permanently in the PAL database even if that family currently owes no programs money.

If a family is listed in the data base as not paying past payment agreements but they don’t currently owe any programs money can I enroll them?
Certainly, that is the only circumstance when a family that is listed in the database can be enrolled into your program. That information only remains in the database for your benefit in case this family leaves you with an unpaid account and later wants to set up a payment plan. It allows you more protection when deciding whether or not to allow a family to use a payment plan to recoup lost monies.

How do I get a family permanently listed for not repaying past due accounts as agreed?
The only way to have a family permanently listed as “not paying owed monies as agreed” is to call/e-mail PAL and inform us. Please do not attempt to do this on your own.
