Karen Bowen is a native of Hopewell, Virginia who is blessed enough to live and work close to the people who mean the most; her family (and her dog, Callie) and friends. In May of 2000, she graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. Although Karen majored in this field, her passion has always been working with children.
In November 2003, Karen began working for a national preschool/before and afterschool program. She was hired as lead teacher in the school age program; however merely 6 months after being hired she was promoted to the position of Assistant Director. Then, in December of 2004, just 13 months after being hired as a Lead Teacher, Karen was asked to become the Director.
"I feel extremely blessed by God to be able to be a part of this wonderful company and have the impact on the lives of children that this position provides. I feel equally blessed to be assisting my brother on his maiden voyage into business ownership."
Paul Bowen is a small town man with big city dreams. As the youngest of three children, and the only boy, Paul grew up with a flair for the dramatic. His family affectionately refers to him as “The All Knowin’ Paul Bowen.” After graduating as Salutatorian of his high school class in 2001, Paul attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida. After returning to Virginia, Paul began working in retail management with large national companies such as Michael’s Arts & Crafts, and Melani Brothers.
In 2006 -07, Paul worked for a national afterschool program. While employed for this company, Paul witnessed first hand the effects that unpaid accounts had on the program as a whole. Toward the end of 2007, he decided that there needed to be a way for tuition based programs to protect themselves from financial loss. In January 2008, PAL was born. Paul is very excited about the opportunities available with PAL. Armed with determination, drive and ambition, Paul is ready to make PAL a small business success story.
